I recently worked with a fintech start-up that asked me to design the logo for its new app, BudgetControl. 

This digital personal assistant helps individuals and families manage their finances. The app's vision centers on simplicity, user-friendliness, and a commitment to financial well-being.

The Design Challenge

The client granted me complete creative freedom but with a clear directive: the logo had to include green elements, symbolizing growth, sustainability, and financial health. Additionally, the branding needed to communicate trust, professionalism, and accessibility, making it approachable for everyday users.

Key Deliverables:

  • Logo: To be used across all brand touchpoints, including their website, social media, and Open Collective (for their fundraising campaigns).

  • Favicon: A clean, scalable symbol that could represent the brand in browser tabs and mobile apps.

  • Social Media Branding: Cohesive logo variants for platforms like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram.

The Concept

I explored three different design directions, but the client ultimately selected the design featured here, which balances modernity with approachability. The logo incorporates a simple human figure rooted in a growing plant, symbolizing personal growth and financial health. The shades of green reinforce the themes of vitality and balance, while the circle around the logo suggests protection and completeness.

The design is versatile, and I developed both a light and dark variant to ensure it works across various digital platforms and backgrounds.

Results

The start-up was thrilled with the final result, particularly appreciating the subtle symbolism of growth and support. With the logo now in place, they are confidently moving forward with their app launch and fundraising efforts.
