Why a Mother-Daughter Trip to Prague Should Be Your Next Travel Goal
This is your sign to book a mother-daughter trip! I recently had the joy of spending six days in Prague with my mom to celebrate her birthday. Let me tell you – it was the perfect combination of rich history, cozy meals, and memorable moments. If you're considering spending quality time with someone close, Prague is a fantastic choice, even if you're traveling on a budget!
We stayed at the Hotel Kinsky Fountain, a delightful place with classic European charm and a fantastic location. (Tip: bring your blow dryer if you want to blow dry your hair quickly!) Every day was filled with discoveries and beautiful memories. Here's a breakdown of our itinerary and my top recommendations if you're planning a similar trip:
Day-by-Day Highlights
October 28th: We explored Prague Castle, including Golden Lane, and it felt like walking through a fairy tale! If you can, make sure to catch the views at sunset.
October 29th: We took a stroll through the Jewish Quarter. Although the area holds profound historical importance, the synagogues are museums now and not in use as religious spaces, so be prepared for a more historical, less immersive experience.
October 30th: Visiting Vysehrad offers a peaceful escape with breathtaking views and serene gardens—it's a must-see.
October 31st: We took a day trip to Cesky Krumlov (thanks to Get Your Guide – they made booking so easy!). This little town is like a fairytale village, and I highly recommend it.
November 1st: We ended our journey with a visit to the iconic Astronomical Clock and even went up the tower for a fantastic panoramic view of the city.
Where to Eat as a Vegetarian
Since I don't eat meat, Prague was a pleasant surprise with its vegetarian-friendly options:
Country Life is perfect for a quick, warm lunch.
Lehká Hlava and Maitrea are ideal for a delicious vegan/vegetarian dinner – cozy, warm, and flavorful.
OMG Asian Restaurant serves up unforgettable ramen in a fun, manga-themed setting. For Japanese-inspired cuisine, Oishi House is fabulous for dinner.
And if you're craving a sweet treat, Crème de la Crème has fantastic ice cream options.
If you love chai latte, try Mikrotrznice near the hotel. It will blow your mind!
Don't leave without trying a traditional trdlo, a classic Prague dessert, on Nerudova Street. There's a small, local spot with three lovely women making these delights fresh daily – an authentic taste of Prague's charm.
Packing with the 333 Method – Mixed Feelings!
I decided to try a version of the 333 method for packing: just three pairs of trousers, a few tops, and two pairs of shoes. I struggled with the limited options but loved bringing a silk scarf—it was light, warm, and versatile! While I'm not sure I'd use the 333 method again, it did simplify packing.
Budget-Friendly Fun
Prague is a fantastic city if you're traveling on a budget! From affordable dining to plenty of local shopping spots, it's easy to enjoy the city without overspending. Look for Christmas decorations, colorful ceramics, prints, and beer glasses – all beautiful souvenirs that won't break the bank.
Why You Should Go
Traveling with my mom allowed us to relax, connect, and create unforgettable memories. Prague is the perfect choice if you're considering a getaway with your mother or someone special. The city's charm, warmth, and affordability make it ideal for a meaningful escape – just the right mix of exploration and relaxation.
