Two workouts that I love, and they help me stay consistent.

As I mentioned in Monday's blog post, I intend to move my body correctly in 2024. By that, I mean that I want to work out to feel good and not necessarily to lose weight. I know I'm overweight, but I've also learned that if the focus is losing weight, the general body wellness shifts backstage. I want to understand how to work out, eat, and move my body to make it feel good. And if these factors will lead me to lose weight as a second result, I will be delighted.

Last year, I discovered what I love doing as a workout. And 2024 is my year of consciousness about my body. As I'm sharing this journey with you, I want to start from what I already know I love and move from that to self-discovery.

So, last year, I tried different types of workouts, and the two that made me the most consistent were pilates and running. They answer two different needs I have regarding working out. Pilates helps me relax, focus, stretch, strengthen, and breathe. Running helps me vent, leave my comfort zone, and concentrate on listening to my body.

The mix of pilates and running is perfect for me. I also add some stretching and yoga sessions here and there to unwind, but the main activities are pilates and running.

The first two months of 2024 have led me away from my purpose of moving my body, and I can feel it. But one of the takeaways of these two months is being gentle and softer with myself. I don't want to be perfect. I desire to be happy. And who will do if I'm not speaking with kindness to myself? So, I haven't worked out in so long, but I've been through a radical life change while planning my wedding, being good at my corporate job, and being present with my people. So, I'm doing my best, and that's the most important thing. I'm showing up daily with the best intentions, doing my best to do everything.

I just need to keep listening to my body, taking care of it, and slowly getting back on track.

Speaking of these therapeutic reminders to write and read, I just finished the Atomic Habits book, one of the most inspiring books I've ever read. If you want to learn more about how our brain works when implementing an intention, this is your book.
