9 Outfit ideas for work if you don't want to wear heels

Hi everyone! Happy start of May and the week! I hope the weekend was great and you feel pumped for this fresh start of the week and month.

To start the week on the right foot, I wanted to share a topic stuck in my mind every week. Since April, I have returned to the office three times per week. So, I had to think of my work outfits after two years. Sounds crazy, right? The first and most prominent thought is, "I have nothing to wear. How can I do now?". I hate wearing heels for work because I have to ride my car, carry at least two bags, and am pretty goofy. So, I always look for comfort and timeless attire for my work outfit.

So, I thought to share with you some outfit ideas for work if you don't want to wear heels like me and some tips and tricks I learned during my five years of work.

Let's start with the tips. The first and most important is the fabric choice. Always look for natural, breathable, and easy-to-wash fabrics. Cotton is a staple because you can use it all year round. During the warmer seasons, it's perfect for timeless attire and comfortable; during the cold seasons, it's ideal for layering. I love linen too for the warmer season because it's fresh. Also, if you go for a timeless design made out of linen, you can repurpose the clothing piece during work and out with friends.

Synthetic fabrics are easier to wash and less expensive, but they are not as breathable as cotton. So, you risk sweating or feeling hot during the day.

Let's move to the second piece of advice. Shapes and fits are crucial for picking an outfit for work. So, I suggest avoiding slim fits, mini-length, and plunging necklines. They are tricky to style for the office and pretty uncomfortable to stay all day long in the office. Instead, you can have a flattering outfit with a regular fit clothing piece, a good layering strategy, and spice up the look with accessories. For example, I love ankle-length dresses; I feel so confident with them on. I used to buy midi skirts, but lately, they are tricky because I don't like my calves.

Closet Staples for me are blazers (oversized, of course), good tailoring pants in different shades, and button-downs with different colors, shapes, and textures. Of course, a good pair of denim is also a great friend, especially if you want to create a more casual outfit for the office. Dresses and skirts are must-haves. You can pick from the classic sheath dress, shirt-dress, A-shape, or a more feminine vibe. The options are endless, and they are so easy to style because they do all the job for you! You just need to pick a pair of shoes and a bag, and you're good to go!

Speaking of bags and shoes, loafers are your gem if you don't like heels like me. They go with everything, from skirts to denim, from dresses to tailoring trousers. Make sure to buy a chunky one to add something edgy to your look and a slim one to feel more preppy. Boots are another great staple because you feel put together, elegant, and professional even if they don't have high heels. Also, they keep you warm during winter! Last but not least, ballerina flats are another option if you like the genre. I have only one pair of pointed flats, but they are so good on a flowy outfit.

Here we are with the fun part. I collected some outfit ideas for work for you.
