NYFW day 5: last but not least, Jonathan Simkhai

Hi everyone! After the last post with all the major trends from this New York Fashion Week, I want to end this first week of fashionweekwithmartina with a fantastic show. Jonathan Simkhai.

Since the first look, I have been so inspired, but I want to talk to you more in-depth because I get notes of so many things! I'll leave you the video of the fashion show if you're going to watch it.

Powerful contrasts

I noticed the contrast between the flowy and feminine dresses with these comfy sandals and boots. Finally, someone thinks of our comfort with fashion! I love the chill vibe of these platform sandals with the elegant dress; they give a modern allure to every look. This kind of contrast is also in textures. I was in awe of the styling of different fabrics: some flowy, sexy, and elegant with a chunky knit or a structured blazer. It's like a perfect balance of yin and yang.

Last but not least, you can achieve a similar powerful contrast also with layering. Spring is a better season for layering since the temperatures are still a bit chilly. So, go for leggings under a dress, or crop top, shirt, and blazer. Try different combinations until you find what suits you best.

Cutouts

I'm happy to announce that cutouts will come back also for spring-summer 2022. Jonathan Simkhai made cutouts strategically to accentuate the woman's body with taste. So you can see a bit of shoulder or the hip; it's like a hint of sexy but elegant. I absolutely love it!!! Also, you can decorate this cutout with gold detail, maybe a chain, to add a touch of sparkle. How wonderful is that?

Gold details

Gold details are a must-have for every vibe you want to go for spring-summer 2022. Yellow gold is rich, bold, elegant, sparkly, and it's perfect to complete every outfit. But, of course, chunky or fine chains are on top of the list because you can use them in many different ways. So, on top of your shopping list, there are gold accessories—Pinky promise.

Elegant comfort

We already spoke about comfy shoes, and that's fabulous. But, the overall vibe I felt from this collection is an elegant comfort. Yes, we want the glam. And, of course, we love a dress-up look. Hands down, we feel influential in our stilettos. But, if 2020 taught me something, it's that I can feel the boss babe vibe even without torture on my feet.

I love this vibe. It's more suitable and achievable for our everyday life. We can make a heartstopper look even with a chunky knit on to keep us warm.

Keep it simple

Last but not least, keep it simple.

Hair and makeup are minimal. Our natural glow is the best makeup we can have on. So let's love a bit more our inner beauty, natural hair, and embrace them fiercely. Hair is in the back to evaluate the outfit. Makeup is barely there, so our skin can shine on its own. But don’t dare to forget the lipstick!

Keep it simple also with the color palette. Monochromatic looks are the main character of spring-summer 2022. It's perfect for creating a capsule closet with key pieces. Pick neutrals and one or two colors, stick to them, and have fun mixing and matching different looks. I think it's a feasible option for those who have a strict budget and those who try to be more sustainable. What do you think?

NYFW is officially over. We'll see you on Thursday for a particular post. The following fashion week will be in Milan on September 21st, and I cannot wait!
