I'm so excited to spill all the juicy details about my spring wedding to you!

Hi everyone! I'm finally in my wifey era and can't be happier. As promised, I'm here to spill the tea at my spring wedding and tell you more about everything we did for our special day.

The wedding day

After the proposal, we started discussing the date because we wanted our wedding far from the usual Italian holidays, not during the weekend, but with lovely weather. So, we came up with spring for the season and 21 as the specific date. 21 is also our anniversary, so it was extra special to pick March 21st for our wedding.

We were fortunate that the sun shone brightly on our wedding day and that the temperature was perfect for an outdoor ceremony. I couldn't be happier.

The location

We scouted many locations but fell in love with an antique villa lost in a giant park near Milan called Villa Ronchi. We rented the entire villa, with the suites to get ready and the chance to have different spots for the various moments of the day.

We wanted a location to do the ceremony and the party because we loved staying in one place with our guests and avoiding the transfers. So, Villa Ronchi was the perfect choice for us.

The villa is romantic but bold, nostalgic but modern, magnificent but intimate. I love that location, and it will hold a piece of my heart from now on.

The theme

March 21st—the first full day of spring. The theme of our wedding was flowers. Groundbreaking, I know, but flowers saved me, and they have a special meaning in our relationship. So, it was natural to pick the theme. When I tell you that flowers saved me, it's because taking care of my plants and flowers helped me go through my depression, discover my new me after the PTSD, and anchor myself to something positive when everything seemed to be falling apart.

I also discovered the meaning of the flowers, so I curated a selection with a special meaning.

Then my favorite color is pink, which in Italian is rosa, which is also the name of my favorite flower, the rose, and my husband has a surname related to the flowers. It can't be a coincidence! It's destiny.

The overall theme of the wedding was romantic, delicate, and elegant. So, we focused on pale pink, green, and warm white as the primary colors.

The flowers

Since we're talking about flowers, let's debrief this topic. We picked Fioreria Il Bouquet as our florist for the wedding, and I'm forever grateful to their team for bringing to life my vision after a quick meeting.

We met them last summer, and they immediately understood our vision.

They added a touch of lilac to the floral arrangement, which was the perfect final touch to give magic.

We had roses, freesias, carnations, eucalyptus, lavender, and other greens. It was so beautiful, and the smell was pure magic.

My bouquet also included a little branch of myrtle, a sacred plant for Venus that symbolizes happiness and good luck. We also did a miniature version of my bouquet to throw.

In our invitations, there were:

  • pink roses: grace and elegance

  • red roses: love

  • tulips: love letter

  • Camelia: my destiny is in your hands

  • pink carnation: I'll never forget you

  • heliotrope: devoted love

  • lilac: first love emotions

  • forget-me-not

  • lavender: purity, luck, and devotion

The same graphic was on our menus and tableau de marriage.

The stationery

I wanted the invitations to be happy but elegant. So, some lovely friends helped me bring my vision to life. We had many things to include in our invitations, so we devised a beautiful idea to keep the invitation elegant but complete.

There was a central structure with the formal invitation on one side and a little pocket with two cards for the RSVP and the FAQ.

OMG, I still have goosebumps while writing this post and reminiscing the whole process and day.

We did something similar to make the menu stay cohesive.

The tableau de mariage was a big poster with the same graphic concept, and the tables displayed the names of the flowers we incorporated into the stationery.

The dress

I can't wait any longer to tell you about my dress. It is from Milla Nova called Aurora, like Sleeping Beauty, and it is the perfect, most magical, most elegant dress I could dream of for my wedding. I felt more than a princess, more beautiful than a top model, and on cloud nine.

It was so emotional that I could not miss this feeling when I tried it for the first time.

There was some drama, but this dress was meant to be mine. It was the perfect choice for the day. It is made of ivory duchesse satin and has a simple but super nostalgic style.

Then, I styled it with a pair of white slings back, a slick but extra-long veil, and a pair of my mum's earrings with opals and diamonds.

The glam

My hair and make-up were impeccable. I wore a curly updo to keep my veil in place and enhance the dress. Although I don't usually like curls, this was the best choice because my hair gave the look the most nostalgic and natural feeling.

For the make-up, we tried different combinations, but we ended up with a bold but natural, glowing but pink look that made me feel like the most glamorous version of myself.

The wedding bands

The wedding bands are customized by Aneis Jewelry, the brand that made my engagement ring. Saying that I love them is an understatement. She created the most extraordinary and unique wedding bands I could wish for.

She took inspiration from the engagement ring, which is made of three gold braids and a pink amethyst. Our wedding band is a single gold braid. Thus, I can wear the engagement ring and the wedding band together for a unique wedding stack on my finger.

The wedding favors

We knew we wanted to do something that could last and be sustainable for the wedding favor. Also, we wanted to stay focused on the flower theme. That's why when I met the guys from Ecofactory, I fell in love with their project.

Ecofactory is a small business from Sicily, and we picked their magic candles. The magic is at the top of the jar. Once you have burnt the candle, put some soil in the jar and plant the small card you find on the top to see beautiful flowers sprout.

The ceremony

We decided to do the civil ceremony at Villa Ronchi with a personal touch. After the legal part, some friends and family members gave us a speech, and we said the vows in front of our guests. Let me tell you that I couldn't change a thing about it. It was perfect, and the weather was perfect. I'm still in awe.

The food

A local restaurant did the food for our wedding. La Drogheria staff was kind and fabulous in creating a perfect menu for our day. We decided to do a buffet for the appetizers and welcome cocktail, three main courses seated, and another buffet for desserts, plus the wedding cake.

This combination was perfect for entertaining the guests, taking photos, eating good food, and moving around.

We went for a simple cake with three layers, chantilly cream, and white cream on top. Two weeks later, I'm still thinking of that cake.
