Fall-Winter fashion essentials: clothing and accessories must-have for the season

Hi everyone! Today's blog post is an excellent roundup of the fall-winter fashion essentials, all the must-haves to style your outfits during the colder months. My shopping list inspired this blog post because I love having a reference for everything I need to live my best life. Sometimes, my mind goes wild thinking a million things simultaneously, and these lists greatly help me. So I hope you'll enjoy it too.

Last year, I did a blog series about getting ready for the colder months, and the blog posts are still going strong. You can catch up with them here.

Clothing must-haves for fall-winter

Let's start strong with all the clothing must-haves.

For the bottom part, I would add to my shopping list:

  • Velvet and corduroy trousers: they are great for casual and cozy outfits. I have a pair of deep green corduroy trousers and a pair of fun velvet pants, and I wear them so much!

  • Denim: I love light denim during the fall and winter, but a classic pair of indigo denim is a must-have.

  • Tailored trousers are crucial for more formal looks, but they are also a staple for any outfit. I love styling them for the office but also with heels and a fun top to go out.

  • Skirts: have fun! Midi and maxi for a dramatic look, and mini to style your chunky knitwear. I'm gaining confidence to show my legs again, and it's lovely!

For the upper body, my shopping list would gravitate towards:

  • Shirts: I love and buy only men's shirts because they are the best fit for me. Have fun with patterns and colors, but have a basic white shirt and a light blue one.

  • Knitwear: cozy and good-quality knitwear is the crucial point of the closet during the fall-winter months. Make sure to have a black turtleneck, a white sweater, and a cozy cardigan. Then play around with the fits and try boxy, chunky, and fluffy knitwear. Wear the more fitted ones under a blazer for great layering. Experiment with a maxi cardigan for a dramatic look.

  • Blazers are a masterpiece of the closet. Make sure to find a great-quality blazer. My favorites are wool-based because they add depth to the overall look. I find them vintage for a fraction of the retail price, lasting a lifetime.

  • Tops: I love keeping some tops when I don't want to wear a shirt. So, the basics are white and black oversized T-shirts, some mood T-shirts to show your personality, and some feminine blouses to change sometimes.

  • Dresses: tartan and midi dresses are my favorites for these months, but I consider something basic to layer. For example, I have a mini black dress from H&M that I wear so much in a million ways.

  • Something sparkly: fall-winter also means the holiday season, and something with sparkle always puts you in a great mood. I recently got a midi sequin skirt, and I'm counting down the days to wear it. But open your mind, and wear it also during the day with a men's shirt and a cozy maxi knit. You'll be a showstopper.

  • Coats are crucial because you want them to be a real gem for your outfit. So, make sure to look for good quality but also great fit. I usually size up because I have more room to fit my knitwear and blazers. I love them when they are maxi and wool-based because they keep me warm and add drama to my look. But I would also wear something shorter with some outfits. Have fun and play around with coats by remembering that they will be the first thing other people will see in your look. So, alongside my essential black and blue maxi coats, I have a fun hot pink faux fur coat and a shearling leather jacket.

Accessories must-haves for fall-winter

I love accessories, and fall-winter ones are among my favorites. They are the perfect mix of cozy, functional, stylish, and personality traits. So, let's see what I recommend for the ideal fall-winter closet:

  • Scarfs: they are never enough. I have collected them forever because I wear them daily during the colder months. I love the maxi ones because I can wear them over my shoulders if I get out. My basics are a black maxi scarf, a silk scarf (because silk is a natural fabric that keeps you warm during winter and cold during the colder months), and a small, colorful scarf to add detail to your outfit.

  • Hats and caps are essential to keep you warm. Still, they are also a great accessory to add personality to your outfit. I love the classic French beret, and I own it in black, wine red, and magenta. They will help you during bad hair days or to protect your blowout.

  • Bags. Oh, I would buy bags for the rest of my life if I could. They are my favorite thing to shop for. I don't have summer bags and winter bags. I have my collection that I keep all year round to inspire me to think out of the box. During the fall-winter months, I wear more oversized bags like totes, but I still prefer the mini ones to go out.

  • Shoes: you want something practical and warm, something formal, and something fun. Remember the holiday season? So, knee-high boots, loafers, and leather sneakers are your best friends for practical and traditional looks. Slingbacks and ballet flats are perfect for polished outfits. Heels and something sexy are your best friends to lift your mood for special occasions. I would also keep the sandal heels because they are great with socks and tights during the colder months.
